The band was founded in April 1962 by Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ian Stewart, Geoff Bradford and Dick Taylor. Tony Chapman (others cite Mick Avory) supported them in the battery during their early gigs. After the departure of Bradford, Taylor and Chapman, entered his place bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts. At the request of his manager, Stewart was removed from the lineup in 1963, but continued to work in the recording sessions and as road manager. Brian Jones was fired in 1969 and died soon after and was replaced by guitarist Mick Taylor, who would leave the group in 1975 and would in turn replaced by Ron Wood. With the retirement of Bill Wyman in 1993 was included bassist Darryl Jones, although he plays with the band since recording the album Voodoo Lounge in 1994, is not an official member.
They are considered one of the largest and most influential groups in rock history, 3 being the group that laid the foundations of rock contemporáneo.4 May 6 Counting from the beginning with the favor of critics, some of their materials are among the best of all time; 7 8 9 10 among them are Beggars Banquet (1968), Let It Bleed (1969), Sticky Fingers (1971) and perhaps his best work, Exile on Main St. (1972). note 2 in 1989 were included in the Hall of Fame Rock and Roll, and in 2004 the Rolling Stone magazine placed at No. 4 on its list of 100 Greatest Artists of all Tiempos.11 No rock band to date has held as durable and still world renowned as The Rolling Stones with Jagger, Richards and Watts as founding members in active, still the longest running band in the history of rock.6His first productions included versions and themes of blues, rock and roll and R & B U.S..
However, in the course of his career added stylistic touches of other genres to suit every age, receiving influences from psychedelic music, country, punk, disco, reggae and electronic music. Despite leading with The Beatles (with whom he always rivaled in popularity) 12 the "British Invasion" in the early years of the decade of 1960, note 13 March was not until the release of "(I Can not Get No ) Satisfaction "in 1965 when they reached international stardom and established themselves as one of the most popular bands in the scene musical.14 To date, the band has released albums twenty-five study15 and simple thirty-two placed within the top ten United Kingdom and the United States.16 Total sales of The Rolling Stones are estimated between 20017 and 250 million albums, 18 19 making them one of the most successful artists of all time.
